Permanent Make-Up

What is Permanent Make-up?

Permanent Makeup (PMU) is a cosmetic technique which employs  permanent/semi-permanent pigmentation of the dermis, as a means of producing designs that resemble makeup, such as eyelining and other permanent enhancing colours to the skin of the eyebrows, lips, and eyelids. It is also used to produce artificial eyebrows, particularly in people who have lost them as a consequence of old age, disease, such as alopecia totalis, medication, or a genetic disturbance, and to disguise scars and hypopigmentation in the skin such as in vitiligo. It is also used to restore or enhance the breast's areola, such as after breast surgery.

Most commonly called permanent cosmetics, other names include dermapigmentation, micropigmentation, and cosmetic tattooing.

At The Eyelash HUB in Centurion, we provide Microblading, Nanoblading, Microshading, Ombre Powder brows, as well as eyeliner or Lashline enhancement.

Microblading
Microblading The EyelashHUB.jpg

Microblading is a form of a cosmetic semi-permanent makeup performed using, a manual (not a machine) disposable handheld tool, composed with very fine needles resembling the shape of a blade (we call it a microblade), to hand draw each individual hair stroke and simultaneously implant the pigment into the skin.

Each new hair stroke that is drawn by a The Eyelash HUB artist is meant to simulate the client natural eyebrows hair and seamlessly blend it with the client existing brows to add color and fullness resulting in a very natural look. Our microblading process ensures that we design a customized shape, look, and feel that complements your face and your personality. With our experienced Artists at the helm, the results will be gorgeous yet undetectable

Microblading is an ideal solution for clients who have patchy, thin, or uneven eyebrows and are looking for the most natural looking results. However, not everyone is a candidate for microblading and there are different elements to consider such as skin condition and health. Microblading is most suitable for clients with normal skin and small pores. Oil in the skin can cause the Microblading hair-stroke to expand and blur so the less oily the client skin is, the better the result would be. At The Eyelash HUB, we have very strict guidelines that we follow to decide who is a good candidate for microblading and who should avoid microblading!

A new set of Microbladed eyebrows takes two appointments to complete. The technique and art of microblading is very delicate and for this reason it needs two visits to ensure that all the strokes are evenly saturated with pigment. The second appointment is called a “perfecting” touch-up and takes place between 6 to 8 weeks after the initial appointment once the pigments  has settled into the skin. In this perfecting touch-up, the artist makes any needed adjustments and ensures each hair-stroke has even colour.

Nanoblading | Machine Strokes

You’ve probably heard of microblading, a popular solution for enhancing sparse eyebrows, but what about nanoblading? Also referred to as nano brows, the procedure is essentially a semi-permanent tattoo that, when executed properly, results in fluffy, perfectly coiffed brows. Longer-lasting than microblading and suitable for oily and scarred skin, nanoblading presents an appealing new solution for over-plucked or otherwise high-maintenance eyebrows.

The Nano machine hair strokes procedure is a minimally invasive procedure whereby the pigment is implanted into the skin using a cosmetic tattooing machine with a single needle.  This new procedure has taken the beauty world by storm. It provides all the advantages of microblading but with much less trauma to the skin and more longevity!

What is the difference between Microblading and Nano Machine Hair-strokes?

  • Microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing technique in which a sharp, handheld tool made up of 7+ micro needles is used to add semi-permanent pigment to the skin. The nano machine hair stokes procedure, on the other hand, uses a digital machine to implant pigment into the skin.

  • The machine method implants pigment slightly deeper than microblading.

  • The results of nano machine hair-stokes procedure typically lasts longer than microblading. Microblading lasts up to 18 months whereas the results of nano machine hair-stokes procedure last around 2-2.5 years on average, depending on your skin type & lifestyle.

  • As microblading result does not last as long as machine tattooing, you will need more frequent touch-up sessions in comparison to the machine method.

  • Microblading is not for everyone. If you have extremely oily skin, you may not be an ideal candidate for microblading treatment. It is also not suitable for thin, fragile, or sensitive skin.

  • Machine Hair-strokes, on the other hand, is amazing for clients who have very oily or delicate skin.

  • The machine method causes significantly less trauma to the skin than microblading.

So, should I choose Microblading or Machine Hair-strokes?

It is completely down to you as well as your personal preference.

Both Microblading and machine method create fabulous results and can truly change your brows.

Microshading | Powder brows | Ombré Brows
Microshading The Eyelash HUB.jpg

Tired of drawing on your eyebrows to get that soft powder effect just right but end up with mediocre results?

Powder Brows, also known as microshading, Pixel Brows, or Ombré Brows, is a cosmetic semi-permanent makeup technique designed to create eyebrows with soft powder effect, very similar to powder makeup. Powder effect is done with a shading technique using a permanent makeup device, which is similar to a tattoo gun.

Our trained artist use a small needle to place pigment into the skin with a quick hand motion, resulting in a pixelated effect of powder makeup. In order to add density, the artists can layer the pixels repetitively, which will appear as though the brow was filled in with a pencil or brow pomade. The art in shading is to layer the pixels perfectly without appearing denser and darker than your natural eyebrow hair.  Our master artists are able to do just that so when you walk out of the Derma HUB, your brows appear the most natural.

For clients who draw on their eyebrows every day, this can be an amazing, beautiful solution. It is also a great alternative for clients that are not good candidates for Microblading or Combo Brows because their skin is too oily as shading is suitable for any skin type!

Permanent Eyeliner | LashLine Enhancement

As fabulous as on-point eyeliner can be, it can also be your worst enemy on busy mornings. That’s why so many people love semi-permanent eyeliner, a long-lasting solution for a smudge-proof eyeliner look.

Lash line enhancement or semi-Permanent Eyeliner is a permanent eyeliner beauty treatment that is getting very popular. This method involves creating a delicate black, light black or brown line across the top or bottom lashes.

The Lash Line enhancement, or invisible eyeliner as it is often called, involves tattooing an ultra-thin black line along the top lash line to create the illusion of fuller, darker, thicker lashes, whilst the eyeliner is more prominent. The result is a natural, youthful, eye-opening effect. Depending on your preference, the bottom lash line can also be subtly tattooed.

This treatment is great for clients who want to be able to skip applying mascara or eyeliner and those who suffer allergies from regular cosmetics, also those who because of health issues have problems with applying cosmetics.

The device used to deposit pigment is entirely different from the manual tool used for Microblading. The Scalpa Intelligent device delicately applies pigment to the skin for natural-looking results.

Technically, all eyeliner styles that can be achieved with regular makeup can be achieved with PMU eyeliner as well. But some choices are better and more practical than others. The 3 basic permanent eyeliner styles we recommend are:

  • Subtle eyelash line enhancement

  • Classic eyeliner

  • Smokey eyeliner

The choice of permanent eyeliner styles should be based on your preferences, eye shape, and the rest of your facial features.

Why Do I need a Touch-up?

Quality PMU results take time and dedication. After the initial PMU treatment and healing period, you have to have a touch-up session. The first touch-up is obligatory in all cases. In order to understand the importance of the first touch up, think of the treatment as a 2-step process. The two go hand in hand and the PMU treatment is incomplete without the second follow-up session.

First  Touch-up - 6 Weeks

Quality PMU results take time and dedication. After the initial PMU treatment and healing period, you have to have a touch-up session. The first touch-up is obligatory in all cases. In order to understand the importance of the first touch up, think of the treatment as a 2-step process. The two go hand in hand and the PMU treatment is incomplete without the second follow-up session.

The first PMU retouch is done after the healing period is over, generally, between from 4 to 6 weeks.

The skin takes some time to heal after a PMU treatment. During that period, your treated areas will go through several phases. First, they will be too dark, then they will start scabbing, and finally, they will lose some of the colour and you might think your PMU was unsuccessful.

The colour comes back at the end of the healing period, but sometimes it can be uneven and patchy, as some of the pigment could come off with the scabs. Everybody’s skin heals differently and some clients might notice gaps and irregularities after the area is healed.

The touch-up is there to correct all the possible imperfections. Its purpose is to fix what got messed up during the healing period. It’s also an opportunity to make some modifications, in case you feel the colour or shape isn’t quite right yet.

For Example; the first microblading touch up may include adding additional strokes where the pigment didn’t settle properly. Sometimes, if our artist assesses pigment strokes won’t retain even after the second implementation, they will suggest adding microshading.

What Happens if You Don’t Touch-Up my PMU?

If you don’t get the first touch-up, your PMU will stay the way it turned out once the skin has healed – “uneven and patchy”.

If you don’t touch it up ever again, it will fade off within 6-12 months.

Yearly Touch-ups

We recommend yearly touch-up to maintain the crispness and freshness of the colour. PMU naturally fades over time due to external factors such as exposure to the sun, as well as, internal factors such as the gradual break down of pigments as your body metabolizes it out of your system. Everyone can experience the fading process differently and it really comes down to skin type and lifestyle.

Expect to return to your artist anytime between after 12 to 18 months for a yearly touch-up. Exactly when to come back is entirely a personal preference when to come in for maintenance once the colour starts to lose concentration. At a maintenance appointment, the artist will add or “refresh” colour concentration to the existing work.
